Liberian Mission to the International Maritime Association complained to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine at a high level of corruption and tyranny among the officials of the Ukrainian ports. Lisbon Trader, Cause of complaint was the incident with the Liberian vessel Lisbon Trader, that went into the port of Nicholas on Dec. 13, 2010. As stated by the captain of the vessel, in addition to the mandatory port fees for the ship's officials unlawfully sought another 3,650 U.S. dollars. Captain stated that the money needed to simplify the process of operations with sewage and ballast water and not to conduct their laboratory analysis, due to which the ship may be delayed in port for several days. The amount also included a "service" out of state inspection of the vessel, which could serve the cause of the crack on the trigger lifeboat. It should be noted that this is not the first appeal to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry complained of corruption at the ports.
